Long term position in Lansing, MI   GDI is seeking a Business Analyst to assist with multiple initiatives and operational support activities for our client, dept. of education at the State of MI. This is a full-time position with GDI and selected candidates may expect salary up to ***,000 with excellent benefits such as BCBS health insurance from day 1. Job Duties: Operational Support: The Business Analyst will be managing work requests to support operational support needs for web applications. This role is the liaison between the technical team and the business client. These are non-critical systems for MDE. This will be about 50% of the time for this resource. Research: The Business Analyst will research for the modernization of the current Educator Certification system. Responsibilities will include research of existing solutions within the educational business sector and documenting high level business requirements. Information learned from research will determine roadmap for a new solution. This position may have a role in the project for the new solution, as well as a Lean Process Improvement assessment. This will be about 25% of the time for this resource. System Security Plans: The Business Analyst will support the completion of System Security plans (SSP) for new projects and existing projects, using the State’s enterprise tool. Responsibilities include collaboration with the business clients and security liaison to analyze and complete the security controls (based on NIST standards). This will be about 25% of the time for this resource. The role will primarily be on a grant awarded to HighScope from the US Department of Education Investing in Innovation (i3) grant: Supporting Preschool and Kindergarten Students’ Self-Regulation Through HighScope Curriculum Enhancements: Plan-Do-Review and Conflict Resolution. The goal of this project is to improve the self-regulation skills of Detroit preschool and kindergarten students by building off the historic HighScope Perry Preschool Study. This project is in partnership with Detroit Public Schools Community District. . ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES: Manage the research efforts of early care and education projects. Contribute to data collection through instrument development and managing incoming data. Coordinate teacher training and coaching. Observe coaches and teachers in the classroom, troubleshooting challenges in fidelity of implementation. Lead and attend meetings with district administrators, teachers, and project partners. Oversee day-to-day research and evaluation activities including budgeting, planning, analysis, and mentoring staff. Code and analyze quantitative and qualitative data. Lead and contribute to writings and publications, including peer-reviewed manuscripts, research briefs, progress reports, annual reports, and blog posts. Lead and contribute to presentations at professional meetings and conferences. Lead and contribute to grant writing. Maintain communication with federal project officer and participate in i3 learning community webinars and activities. Maintain communication with participating teachers and families, including hosting meetings and writing newsletters. Manage and collaborate with research and evaluation partners at the Center and beyond. Build and maintain relationships in the school district and the Detroit community. Knowledge of the development of and interventions to support self-regulation in young children. Demonstrated ability to support the design and implementation of a large-scale research and/or evaluation project and/or initiative. Proficient use and understanding of statistical analysis packages (e.g., SPSS, Stata, SAS, MPlus) and procedures (e.g., HLM, mixed methods, moderation and mediation). Superb creative thinking and written and verbal communication skills. Commitment to working collaboratively with team members, project partners, and funders. The individual will be responsible for specifying, implementing and validating control algorithms related to Li Ion battery systems. The candidate will need to be well versed in hardware, software and CAN communications as well as typical development tools.   The Lead BMS Applications Engineer will be a critical component of the ABS BMS development team. They will serve as the key liaison to suppliers for functional requirements as well as the point person for BMS functionality within the ABS team. They will be expected to be well versed in software, controls and hardware and be able to identify requirements and short comings with existing designs and contribute to the solution.   The Lead BMS Applications Engineer will work in an intimate, dynamic environment where they will need to be able to apply critical thinking and adapt to quickly changing requirements. They will interact daily with other design team members and suppliers of BMS’s, and hardware components. The candidate will identify requirements from multiple sources, including, but not limited to other engineers, business development, customers, regulatory and safety. They will need to be able to articulate those requirements into concise documentation and work with suppliers on meeting those requirements as well as implement them in controls and software. They need to be able to lead and participate in all aspect of the development and validation of safety critical applications including DFMEA’s and DVP&R’s. The candidate will be expected to meet tight deadlines and be able to communicate to leadership on status on a regular basis.   Responsibilities and Duties   Specify and document functional requirements for both 48V and high voltage BMS. Work with suppliers to implement and validate functional requirements including simulation on Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulators and real battery systems. Work closely with battery design team, business development team and customers to elicit requirements and turn into functional requirements Develop controls and software for critical battery functionality Develop schematics and specify hardware and design requirements to the battery design team for subsystems associated with the BMS Configure existing BMS to meet needs for specific customer applications Develop and review DFMEA’s for controls and battery systems.   Key contributor in evaluation of potential suppliers Develop tools and requirements to be used with BMS for end of line testing and in field use. Develop and execute DVP&R for both internally generated application software as well as software supplied by suppliers. Be able to work in wide range of environments and disciplines to avoid and solve problems in safety critical systems Familiarity in functional safety requirements and implementation of safety critical applications.   Qualifications and Skills Bachelor of Science (Masters preferred) in Controls, computer science or equivalent degree >= 3 years of experience in automotive or similar electrical systems Experience in Battery Management System software and controls Experience with Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow (Embedded coder preferred) Experience in C/C++ software development Experience with CAN and CAN development tools including CANalyzer and CANbedded Prefer experience in schematic and PCB design software (Altium preferred) Experience with High Voltage batteries and safety knowledge Ability to work in a team and individually.
