Job Title:  Purchasing Agent


Job Description:


The Purchaser implements and supports all procurement and inventory management activities, and also provides support for the efficient operation of EDP Company and SensComp regarding materials.  This will include working with and/or supporting Job Coordinator, Accounting, Material Coordinator, and production floor.

Primary responsibilities of the position are as follows:


  • Research and obtain pricing on BOMs, parts and materials; create BOMs
  • Prepare and process RFQs and POs for materials, maintenance and office supplies, and equipment
  • Negotiate pricing and agreements with vendors; develop and enhance good vendors relations
  • Purchase and schedule production materials to support the production schedule and meet timing and delivery goals
  • Maintain computerized procurement records, such as items and services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories
  • Follow up on purchase orders to confirm delivery will be on time as specified in the purchase order; expedite and/or schedule incoming materials and follow up
  • Review defective or unacceptable goods or services with appropriate personnel and others to determine source of non-conformance and take corrective action and/or initiate and process RMAs
  • Analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability
  • Locate and qualify new suppliers of fabricated and commodity materials
  • Maintain accurate stock and inventory counts
  • Maintain compliance data base of raw and finished goods
  • Generate related purchasing and inventory reports, including market conditions and material costs
  • Pull in/expedite and/or schedule incoming materials and follow up
  • Resolve vendor issues and discrepancies between a purchase order and invoice
  • Administer on-line purchasing system
  • Count, pull and verify SMT and/or Thru-Hole kits


Job Requirements:


The candidate must have demonstrated experience in the following areas:


  • Several years experience in purchasing or selling electronic components
  • Scheduling incoming raw materials
  • Skilled in vendor and/or customer relations
  • Accurate and detail oriented
  • Consistent follow up and follow through (including expediting materials)
  • Experience with ERP/MRP system or similar software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook


Job Type:  Full Time


Salary:  $20 to $22 per hour
