Job Description

Financial Controller duties include (but not limited to):

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements.
  • Supervises and coordinates the development and report writing of financial and other specialized reports from accounting staff.
  • Manages the coordination, development, and implementation of training for accounting staff.
  • Provides in depth analyses and recommendations in support of economic models and financial plans to enhance operations.
  • Manage and direct the day-to-day activity of the accounting department personnel in the performance of their duties. Activities include the processing of all billing, accounts payable, and other production activities associated with an accounting organization.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of the accounting department's staff, including all performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary action activities.
  • Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement closing of the accounting records.
  • Develop and insure all accounting activities and reporting of financial information follow established processes and procedures, and in compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Monitor and insure all general ledger reconciliations are completed in accordance with established processes and schedules.
  • Manage and enhance the on-going accounting processes and finance system functionality.
  • Cooperatively work with operations to track and monitor cost and profitability.
  • Review and insure the accurate reporting of all financial information disseminated by the department.
  • Monitor pertinent information used in building and analyzing future business plans and forecasts.
  • Review significant cash outlays, including but not limited to, all major expenditures, and recurring contractual costs to ensure they are compliant with contract terms.
  • Manage the enterprise accounting system, insuring all updates, and maintenance requirements are executed timely and completely.
  • Serve as the major point of contact with the company's independent CPA accounting firm.
  • Facilitates monthly financial meetings with key management personnel to discuss financial results.
  • Directing the quarterly distribution process to ensure proper and accurate distributions are made to investors.
  • Managing banking relationships for business purposes, including: investments, wires, transfers, administration of users on bank websites, and lines of credit renewals.
  • Manages all outside accounting relationships with respect to audits and preparation of tax returns, including a review of audit reports and tax returns prior to finalization.
  • Develops and leads direct reports within the organization to create a highly engaged team.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates finance, accounting and other business processes, and recommends and drives actions to streamline and improve operational efficiencies and identifies opportunities for reducing operational costs.
  • Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
  • Supports executives and senior leadership in preparation of annual budgets, long term strategic plans and business reviews.
  • Participate in the profitability and cash improvement actions.
