Job Description

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise the functioning of the Residence milieu, individual staff assigned and the client responses to their activities on a daily basis, taking immediate steps to remedy situations which are below the standards established for the residential program and opportunities to continuously improve resident care.

Maintain expert status and provide meaningful briefing/debriefing for Supervisors, Therapists, Team Leaders and Floor Staff to facilitate and ensure their functioning, behaving and operating consistently, in an informed manner, with clinical approaches and training requirements [ex. BIST, TIP, IBH] in the Residence, at School and off-campus while attending to the needs of clients.

In conjunction with the Director of Residential Services, clearly define, document, and update “standards" for respective Residence programs.

Participate in Treatment Planning Meetings, being responsible to provide input into treatment and implementation planning strategies.

Provide timely, concise communication to the Director of Residential Services, regarding status of Residence staff, residents, program, facilities, and other check point areas identified by the Director.

In conjunction with the Director of Residential Services, maintain and update all procedures applicable in the Residence area, developing new procedures as the outgrowth of maintaining standards, clarifying staff assignments, and general program improvement suggestions.

Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all fiscal issues that relate to the Residence area, and implement all procedures as required.

Demonstrate ability to identify potential cost-saving measures to maintain budget alignment.
Develop and maintain the mechanism for communicating with all staff regarding the resolution of “inter" and “intra" departmental concerns in a timely fashion.

Develop and document, new staff training/orientation schedules, assuring adherence to all state regulations and Vista Maria policies and procedures.

Complete Job Performance Evaluations for each staff person in their respective department on an annual basis. This is in addition to new staff evaluations and remedial evaluations. All job evaluations are to be forwarded to the Director of Residential Services for approval.

Direct and control specific implementation of treatment issues/implementation strategy programs for individual clients within the Residence area, as instructed by treatment plans and/or Director of Residential Services.

Assure all Incident Reports are done in a timely fashion and in compliance with state regulations. Create and retain an effective, team-oriented unit workforce including hiring and scheduling of unit personnel.

Responsible for training, development, and coaching of Supervisors and Residential Staff to enhance service delivery by providing supervision and on-the-job training.

Demonstrate leadership with Supervisors and Therapists, organizational responsibility for daily unit functions, including review and improvement of incident reports, daily review of medication book and security/environmental checklist, review and processing of supply orders, and review and determination of vacation request of direct care staff.

Facilitate unit, management, and treatment team meetings to provide clear direction and guidance for all team members.

Assist Director of Residential Programs with quality assurance efforts, strategic and annual planning process and implementation and monitoring of those plans i.e. assuring current treatment outcomes align with program’s annual plans.

Prepare for and attend bi-weekly Program Operations Meeting.

Provide Residential supervision and recommend diverse treatment strategies based upon evidence-based interventions to Therapists for their assigned clients according to the clients’ individual needs.
Review and approves reports from Therapists within the program.

Participate in utilization review committee and multi-disciplinary team meetings.

Review, monitor and endorse payroll reports, small item purchase requisitions, and petty cash disbursements and reimbursements prepared by supervisor.

Review and monitor Corrective Action Plans and Recovery Plans to assure compliance.
Review daily Communication Logs and Daily Unit Reports.

Model and facilitate, along with the Supervisors, Team Leaders and Therapists, dispute resolution between residents and direct care staff, pursuant to written requests from residents.
Assure monthly training occurs for all unit staff, and review all training modules prior to submission to Human Resources.

Review and endorse the Procedure Review Form and Weekly Safety and Quality Control checklist, and facilitate resolution to applicable issues.

Completes all other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Residential Programs.

Prepare and timely submit monthly reports as directed by the Director of Residential Programs.
Monitor and ensure building cleanliness through inspection, and collaboration with Supervisors and Facilities Department.

Coordinate campus-wide transportation scheduling of residents (Myriam Hall only)
Completes all other duties as required or requested. 

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master Degree in Social Work or related Human Service area.

State registration or license as required by licensing and funders.

Working knowledge of diagnostic criteria and coding.

Past Residential supervision.

Experience in providing Residential therapy services in a mental health setting.

Three (3) years of experience supervising and leading a team.

Valid driver’s license without relevant restrictions.

Demonstrated ability to interact positively a culturally diverse environment.

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, and computer literacy required 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to participate in the physical management of resident when needed per Non – Violent Physical Crisis Intervention.

Ability to be flexible with the working conditions (indoor or outdoor weather conditions).

Ability to provide backup assistance when needed.
