Data Analyst

What will I be doing?

As a Data Analyst, you will be a key member of our data and analytics delivery team. You will have the ability to shape projects, bring on new technologies and interact with stakeholders to address critical project related data issues and quality. With your experience supporting enterprise data warehouses/analytics data-driven environments, you will work with business stakeholders to understand requirements, and design conceptual, logical and physical data models, conduct data risk assessments & data mappings along with lifecycle and data governance models. You will participate in story refinement, perform research, provide technical leadership, resolve issues and assist in prioritizing technical strategies to achieve the long-term objectives of the team.

In this position, you will also…

  •  Design and oversee data discovery process, data profiling and data quality assurance processes
  • Design reporting facts and dimensions using data warehousing best practices
  • Create physical and logical data models for all layers of data processing (stage, fact, reporting).
  • Deep collaboration with business analysts, stakeholders, architects and development team
  • Maintain data dictionary and enterprise data warehouse data models
  • Provide direction and definition of data modeling strategy and delivery
  • Lead effort of delivering data modeling solutions and platforms
  • Define and develop data governance strategies and data quality scorecards
  • Implement data modeling standards and best practices
  • Develop technical standards and specifications for database models, data security and data warehouse performance
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary, financial and personal data.
  • Meet service level objectives (RPO, RTO, Performance) for services in your care. 
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of talented engineers to help them build reliable and scalable services. 
  • Research and deploys best-in-class database technology as ProQuest’s needs change. 
  • Create physical database design and implement required database technologies and functions following database standards and best practices. 
  • Troubleshoot a wide range of database problems with complex interdependencies and provide corrective action within an appropriate period. 
  • Advise database engineers and help to identify opportunities for training.

Qualified Candidates must have…

  • Bachelors’ degree or higher in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience. 
  • 5 or more years of managing complex production datastores. 
  • Good expertise in one or more databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL, AWS Redshift
  • Strong operational experience in Linux/Unix/Windows environment
  • Data auditing and evaluation experience
  • Proficiency with relational, star-schema and data vault data model design
  • Proficiency in designing conceptual, logical and physical data models

  • Experience in developing and maintaining ETL/ELT mappings
  • Proficiency in BI semantic-layer modeling
  • Experience with reporting platforms such as Microsoft Power BI,Tableau or looker

This position is based in a ProQuest office location and may be appropriate for full or partial remote work, subject to approval.  Occasional travel may be required. This position requires weekday (Monday - Friday) attendance with some scheduling flexibility available around core working hours.  Every position requires certain physical capabilities.
